Car rental terms & conditions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and UAE

Key policies and procedures for car rentals

Responsibilities:

  • The lessee accepts that the vehicle of choice has been delivered to him/her in a good working condition. The lessee also understands and acknowledges that the vehicle is to be returned to AUTORENT in the same condition once the period of rent is over (including all accessories).
  • AUTORENT reserves the right to recall a vehicle at any time – if the lessee has violated any of the company’s terms and conditions.
  • AUTORENT shall not be held accountable for any loss of goods.
  •  AUTORENT reserves the right to make modifications to its terms and conditions without prior notice to any parties’ geographical limits. 

Geographical Limits: 

  • Vehicles taken on rent from AUTORENT may only be driven within the country’s geographical boundaries.
  •  Prior approval is required for rental vehicles to be driven cross-border to other countries. In case, lessee drive Rented Vehicle outside the country borders, AUTORENT has the right to debit vehicle recovery charges plus additional charges incurred by AUTORENT.  

Mileage Allowance: 

Daily/ Weekly Rentals 

  • Daily/weekly mileage allowance is as per agreement. Excess mileage will be applicable as per agreed terms and conditions.

 Monthly Rentals 

  • Monthly mileage allowance is as per agreement. Excess mileage will be applicable as per agreed terms and conditions. 

Fuel Policy

  • The vehicle is to be returned after the rental period with the same fuel level as when it was hired. Fuel charges may apply if the fuel level is significantly lower. 

Damage:

  • It is the lessee’s duty to ensure tires are kept properly always inflated.
  • It is the lessee’s duty to ensure the vehicle and its instruments are not damaged or tampered with.
  • It is the lessee’s duty to ensure a good standard of cleanliness is kept within the vehicle. 
  • The lessee will be held accountable for all repair costs incurred during their rental period. 
  • The lessee is not allowed to use a third-party repair service – this may result in a penalty for the lessee. 
  • In the case of any damage or accident – the lessee is to call the Police (999) and AUTORENT at 600549993 (UAE).
  • The lessee must obtain a police report for any damage caused during their rental period. 

Rental Period & Return Policy 

  • Rental charges are on a 24-hour basis
  • A grace period of 2 hours is accepted on return date
  • Any delay more than 2 hours will result in charges of a full day rental.
  • Latest check-in time: 18:00 / 6.00PM
  • Vehicle can be returned all days of the week, subject to drivers’ availability. 
  • For pick-up service on return date, the lessee must inform AUTORENT at least 4 hours prior to the pick-up time.  

Security Deposit and Refund:

  • Security deposit of AED 1500 / SAR 1500 / QR 1500 / OMR 150 will be kept by AUTORENT prior to lessee receiving the vehicle. 
  • Security deposit rates may vary depending on the category of vehicle chosen for rent.
  • Deposit will be held for 30 calendar days after check-in date to accommodate for fines or TOLL charges incurred by the lessee.
  • Post online booking, your booking amount will be on hold until the booking is confirmed by AUTORENT, only then will the customer be charged for the booking.
  • In case of vehicle unavailability, the booking amount on hold will be released immediately from AUTORENT. Refund period of the booking amount is subject to respective bank policies.
  • The booking amount released in case of cancellation will be credited back to the customer account or cards within 30 calendar days. 

TOLL Charges 

  • TOLL Rates are subject to change without prior notice.
  • TOLL Rates shall be charged as per agreed terms and conditions.
  • VAT charges will be applicable on all transactions. 

Fines

  •  All fines incurred during the rental period will be paid by the lessee.
  •  Lessee will be charged an AED 20 acknowledgment fee plus as per agreed terms and conditions.
  •  Fines of less than AED 200/SAR 200/QR 200/OMR 20 will be charged a minimum of AED 20 / SAR 20 / QR 20 / OMR 2 service charge.
  •  VAT charges will be applicable on all transactions.

Service/Maintenance:

  • All rental charge includes vehicle maintenance, comprehensive insurance, and replacement.
  • All service appointments must be taken 2 days prior from AUTORENT
  • In the case of vehicle breakdown, AUTORENT will provide a replacement car as soon as possible.
  • Vehicles that were not serviced as per specified schedule and have experienced damage will be the obligation of the lessee. The lessee will be charged with all repairing damages. The rental period will be extended to cover the time taken to repair the damages.
  • The lessee must bring the vehicle for routine maintenance at every 10,000KM as per the recommendation of the vehicle manufacturer.
  • Lessee must ensure that no person without prior authorization of the lessor carries out any work upon or otherwise tinkers with the vehicle or any part thereof.
  • Tire damages or puncture are not covered under insurance, maintenance and lessee is responsible for the cost of their replacement and repair.
  • The lessee is to inform AUTORENT of any damage or failure – the lessee is liable to submit a copy of the police report within a reasonable period.
  • The lessee shall be responsible to pay the actual cost suffered by the lessor for losing the vehicle or any damage sustained by the vehicle.
  • All general services requests must be routed through customer care and will be communicated through customer care via email/call.
  • The lessee will be liable for full costs of repair if the vehicle was damaged due to being operated with a flat tire.

Deposit:

  • Deposit is an advance payment in addition to the rental amount and all transactions of non-rental in that agreement period.
  • The exact figure of the deposit required will be communicated to the lessee before finalization and will also be repeated in the confirmation emails.
  • The deposit is to allow AUTORENT to receive security and protection of an authorization before the commencement of the rental period. 
  • The amount of deposit required will vary on the car category chosen.
  • The deposit payment remains valid throughout the entire rental period.
  • The deposit shall be released automatically to the lessee within 30 calendar days (subject to bank refund policy) from the date of return of the vehicle.
  • At the time of check-in, all payments must be cleared.  

 Other General Terms & Conditions:

  • If the lessee is a tourist and holds a driving license from a UAE approved country, the lessee must sign a contract that states: As soon as the lessee obtains residency in the UAE, they must change their license to a United Arab Emirates driving license, the lessee also agrees that it will be illegal to drive in the UAE with a driving license from abroad once residency is obtained. 
  • Any accident or damage to the vehicle rented that occurs due to the driver being under the influence of alcohol or any narcotic drug will result in full liability being given to the lessee.
  • The lessee is to ensure that only drivers that have entered their name on to the contract are allowed to drive the vehicle.
  • The lessee is not permitted to tint the windows of the vehicle, or to add any stickers of their own to the vehicle. A fine of AED/SAR/QR 500 (OR) OMR 50 will be imposed for such violations by AUTORENT and the lessee will be fully liable for penalties imposed by the government. 
  • All disputes and conflicts regarding billing and accounts are handled by [email protected].
  • All disputes and conflicts regarding maintenance and services are handled by [email protected].
  • No cash is refundable. 

Insurance:

  • Any vehicle rented from AUTORENT is only insured for driving on paved roads within the Country 
  • In case of any damage to the vehicle, a police report must be obtained by the lessee otherwise the lessee will be held accountable for all damage repair costs.
  • Windshields, Tires, Wheels, Tools and Wheel cap damage is not included in the insurance. 

Legal Issues:

Age:

  • All lessees must be above, at a minimum, 25 years of age.
  • 80% insurance is covered for lessees between the ages 21 and 25.

Means of Payment: 

  • Payment can be made using the following instruments: 
  • Credit Cards – credit cards commonly accepted at AUTORENT are Mastercard and Visa.
  • Debit Cards – debit cards need to be associated with a bank account to be accepted.  

Booking Details: 

  • The minimum rental period for a vehicle from AUTORENT is 1 day. Any cars returned before the 24-hour period will still be charged a day’s rate. 

Confirmation Mail: 

  • The client will receive a final confirmation mail of booking after all steps of the ‘process’ are complete.
